Thank you for your interest in Wildwood School.  The following is some helpful information regarding our admission process:

Step 1:  INITIAL INQUIRY

Initial contact concerning admission to Wildwood School should be made by telephone by the parent or school district.

Step 2:  VISITATION/OBSERVATION OF WILDWOOD SCHOOL

Parent and/or school district visit Wildwood School. The purpose of this visit is to receive general information in regard to the program, family involvement and support services. A tour of the building and brief observation in classrooms will also take place.

Step 3:  COLLECTION OF RELEVANT DATA

If Wildwood placement is to be pursued, school district information will be requested (current IEP, most recent psychological, Behavior Plan if applicable, OT/PT evals (if applicable), FBA, speech eval, etc.). At the time of initial visit or at a later date request by a parent, family intake papers will be provided for completion and return.

Step 4:  ADMISSION COMMITTEE REVIEW

Wildwood School Admission Committee will review all information to determine if the student meets the mission of Wildwood School.

Step 5:  FAMILY AND STUDENT ADMISSION REVIEW

If the student appears to meet the mission of Wildwood School, an appointment will be scheduled with the parent and student to come to Wildwood School for the purpose of gaining more information about the student and family needs. Additionally, the purpose of this meeting is to answer any additional questions the parent may have regarding our program.

Step 6:  ADMISSION REVIEW RECOMMENDATIONS

Following the student and family admission review, the Admission Committee will evaluate the student's needs and determine appropriateness to the mission of Wildwood School. If the student is accepted into Wildwood School, the parent and school district will be notified by telephone and in writing and enrollment papers will be provided to the parent for completion. If it is determined that the student is appropriate to the mission, but an appropriate placement is not available, the parent and district will be notified by telephone and in writing and the student will be placed on a wait list.  If it is determined that the student does not meet the mission and is not accepted, telephone contact and written notification will be provided to the family and school district.

Step 7:  PLACEMENT

Once an agreed program is formulated, placement of the student will be carried out. CSE approval is needed before the start of program. Follow up on receipt of enrollment papers is carried out. Formal entrance into the program can only occur upon receipt of the enrollment papers and upon receipt of approval by the CSE.
